Mike and his team at County Action Restoration took excellent care of us when we discovered two leaks that had seriously affected two different areas of our home. Mike came out promptly to assess the damage and returned later to capture some additional information that he incorporated into a broader restoration plan. He was responsive throughout the process, patiently explaining how the work would be done and even drawing diagrams to illustrate the approach. When we realized that a big part of the plan would require waiting until the spring (to avoid freezing temperatures), Mike immediately suggested that we push ahead with a smaller carveout of the larger project so that we could bring one bathroom back online quickly in time for the holiday season. His team member, Dave, came out twice last week to complete that work and coordinated tightly with our longtime plumber to ensure everything fell into place swiftly and sequentially. Dave was outstanding and very personable, walking us through the work and discussing the various stages as he completed them. The end result is a bathroom that is not only fully functional but also so completely restored and polished that you would not know it required it a big repair. We are so pleased with the work and look forward to completing the rest of the project with Mike, Dave, and their colleagues this spring!

County Action Restoration cleaned up my basement after the sewer line broke, making my home livable again. Immediate response time through a referral from Zoom Drain, Sam and his team were thoroughly equipped and capable of cleaning up black water and mold in a basement full of furniture. Sam also explained their method, and gave a follow-up call to check once all plumbing repair work was completed. Top quality restoration service from a locally owned company you can trust, thanks again County Action.

Mike McCullough and County Action Restoration helped us in so many ways when our cast iron sewer pipe broke under our house. Our house is built on a concrete slab with a sewer pipe 3 feet under the slab. Once determining the pipe was broken and causing the clogging, our plumber Tim Dean explained the only way to remedy the problem was to replace the cast iron pipe with PVC. To do that would entail cutting through the slab in the kitchen, rec room, pantry closet, powder room, laundry room and the front walkway. Tim suggested Mike McCullough and County Action Restoration. We met with Mike and quickly decided to use County Action Restoration for the entire project. Mike assumed the role of liaison with our insurance company as well as all the contractors and suppliers from slab demo and restoration to all new kitchen cabinets, counter tops, backsplash, flooring (tile and carpet), painting all rooms, and remodeling. Mike’s liaison with the insurance company was huge and resulted in virtually the entire project being covered by insurance. The only out-of-pocket for us were upgrades not covered by insurance. If you incur damage to your home from fire, water, falling trees, whatever, I highly recommend Mike and his team at County Action Restoration.

The staff at County Action went above and beyond to ease my stress during my time of need. Dave was efficient and polite answering all of my questions and doing the best he could possible in setting up the equipment in a way that wouldn't interfere with everyday interaction. When they made the repairs everything went smoothly and when they left they made sure the house was clean. I even decided to used them again to clean my carpets and my sofa. They're like a one stop shop! I highly recommend County Action.

Mold Inspection and Test FAQs

The price for mold inspection and test, starting at $350, can significantly differ depending on the extent of the damage caused. Each situation is unique and requires a personalized assessment to determine the necessary control efforts to resolve the issue and prevent further complications.

Remember that it is crucial to take immediate action if you suspect mold damage in your home. Conducting a primary assessment and making necessary repairs as soon as possible can minimize costs associated with a worst-case scenario.

Get the most accurate mold inspection results with these tips:

1. Switch off Air Purifiers, Dehumidifiers, and Humidifiers
Turn off these devices for 24 hours before the inspection to ensure accurate mold detection.

2. Close Doors and Windows
Create the best conditions for mold growth by shutting doors and windows for 48 hours before the inspection.

3. Turn off HVAC Systems
For at least two hours before the appointment, shut down HVAC systems to concentrate mold spores.

4. Skip Outdoor Chores
Avoid pruning, trimming, and lawn mowing, as it can disturb baseline mold measurements.

5. Delay Bathing or Showering
For 12 hours before the appointment, refrain from bathing or showering to detect plumbing leaks accurately.

6. No Cleaning or Disinfecting
Avoid cleaning or disinfectant chemicals 48 hours before the inspection to prevent mold removal.

7. Choose a Rain-Free Day
Rain can distort outdoor mold measurements, so schedule your inspection on a dry day.

8. Clear Clutter and Obstacles
Ensure full access to all areas of your home by removing clutter and obstacles before the inspection.

Safeguarding your home against mold damage is crucial, but understanding what your homeowner’s insurance policy includes is vital. Typically, mold damage and remediation are only covered if caused by a covered peril, such as burst pipes.

Unfortunately, if the mold has lingered for an extended period, your policy will unlikely assist with the expenses. Insurance companies view it as a maintenance issue that should have been addressed earlier.

However, some insurance companies provide additional coverage for mold through optional riders. It’s important to review your policy and contact your insurance provider if you have any uncertainties. Being well-informed will help you avoid any unexpected surprises.

Regardless of your insurance coverage, it’s crucial not to delay contacting a professional mold remediation company to assess and estimate the removal cost. Mold can lead to significant health problems, so it’s better to address the issue sooner rather than later.

Stop mold in its tracks by controlling moisture. When mold spores find damp surfaces, they can quickly start spreading indoors.

Recognizing the importance of moisture control is essential for keeping mold at bay. If you suspect any mold problems at your home or workplace, don’t delay – reach out to our dedicated customer care team. We’re here and ready to help!

Mold can be harmful and cause health problems for some people. Although mold spores are commonly found in the air and in many Pennsylvania homes, excessive mold can pose more serious health risks. Inhaling mold can trigger allergies and respiratory symptoms.

Maintaining humidity levels below 50% all day can help you achieve ideal humidity in your home. Control the humidity with an air conditioner or dehumidifier. You can also keep track of the levels using a humidity meter from a home improvement store.

Take these steps to reduce humidity:

– Identify and fix issues in your home.
– Quickly dry any wet areas.
– Improve ventilation to prevent moisture.
– Use mold-resistant products.
– Monitor indoor humidity regularly.
– Divert water away from your home to prevent moisture buildup.

If mold is visible in your home, call County Action Restoration immediately. We’ll help contain the problem and ensure the best results.

Here are the signs to watch for:

1. Visible discoloration: Look for gray, black, green, or bluish specks on surfaces or grout lines. Look for pink, red, or brown streaks as well. Mold can have a powdery, fuzzy, or slimy texture. Dark water stains on walls, floors, or ceilings also indicate mold. Act promptly to remove it, whether you can handle it yourself or need professional help.

2. Musty odor: Trust your nose – if you notice a musty, earthy, or sour smell, there’s likely mold around. Even if you can’t see it, be an investigator and find the source of the odor. If you smell mold but can’t find it, consider calling a professional to investigate hidden colonies. Clean up or remove any mold or damaged areas promptly.

3. Dampness: Feeling dampness on walls, floors, furniture, or cabinetry means the humidity level in your home is too high. Excess humidity promotes mold growth, both visible and hidden. Use a dehumidifier or run your HVAC system more frequently to combat this. Remember to clean or remove any mold growth you come across.

4. Moisture condensation: Water droplets on walls, windows, windowsills, or around appliances like refrigerators or air conditioners can lead to mold growth. Prevent this by insulating or repairing leaky spots and regularly emptying drip pans.

5. Allergic reactions: If someone in your family experiences persistent symptoms like sneezing, coughing, or rashes, mold might be to blame. If mold is confirmed as the cause, consult a physician and take action to remove it.

Stay alert and take immediate action to eliminate mold from your home. Your health and well-being rely on it.

Protect yourself and your building from the hidden dangers of mold. From allergies and irritation to infections and illness, mold exposure can have serious consequences. While rare, individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe infections. Pay attention to the potential for mold to rot materials and compromise the strength of structures.
Our technicians will provide guidance on how you can prevent mold growth on your own, based on the inspection results. Our goal is to educate our clients and sometimes all it takes is a few small adjustments to get rid of the mold. Remember, mold damage restoration isn’t always the answer, it depends on the extent of the damage and root cause.
Mold restoration eliminates excess mold, while mold remediation eliminates that unpleasant stuff, tests for future growth, and prevents it from growing. We offer both mitigation and remediation services.

Mold is a sneaky intruder that can wreak havoc on your home or office if not properly dealt with. Remember to consider its potential to cause serious health issues. Mold can trigger allergies, respiratory problems, and in rare cases, even death. It doesn’t stop there – mold can also destroy the structure of your building, making it unsafe to inhabit. That’s why it’s crucial to understand the importance of thorough mold cleanup to prevent its growth and negative impact on your well-being and property.

Mold growth is a common problem in damp areas like bathrooms, basements, attics, and kitchens. The first step to effective mold remediation is locating the source of moisture. Once you’ve identified it, addressing the underlying moisture issue is key to preventing future mold growth. Keep in mind that visible mold doesn’t always indicate a heavy infestation. Mold can hide behind walls and carpets, necessitating professional assistance if you suspect its presence.

Cleaning up mold involves more than just wiping down surfaces. Professionals rely on antifungal solutions and specialized equipment to combat mold colonies at their roots. Without the right equipment, you risk spreading mold spores and further contamination. Mold remediation experts employ air scrubbers, HEPA vacuums, and dehumidifiers to remove spores and prevent regrowth. This thorough approach ensures a safe and mold-free environment.

Procrastinating mold cleanup puts both your health and property at risk. Mold can weaken your building’s structure and lead to costly wood rot repairs. Act preemptively by contacting licensed mold remediation experts who will conduct a comprehensive inspection and provide a detailed report highlighting areas of concern.

Remember, entrusting professionals with mold remediation is essential. They possess the necessary skills and equipment to eliminate mold and thoroughly prevent its return. Tackling mold growth alone may result in more contamination and health risks. While professional services may seem expensive, they pale compared to the long-term damage mold can inflict on your health and property.

To conclude, never ignore mold remediation. Seek professional help, identify and address moisture sources, and take preventive measures against regrowth. Trust in specialized equipment and antifungal solutions to eradicate mold effectively. Remember to hire licensed mold remediation experts to avoid additional contamination and health hazards. Remember, being proactive beats being reactive when it comes to mold. So don’t let it take hold – take action now.
